# Unshielding Funds

##

Unshielding moves funds from your private encrypted balance back to your normal, public wallet.

### Steps

1. **Select the token** you want to unshield.
2. **Choose Unshield.**
3. **Enter the amount** to move back to your wallet.
4. **Approve** in your wallet.
5. **Done.** The funds leave your encrypted balance and appear in your public wallet balance.

### What's happening

Unshielding moves value from your encrypted account (ETA) back into your normal account (ATA). This is the reverse of shielding. The funds become public again once they're in your wallet.

### No recipient needed

Unshielding always sends to **your own** connected wallet. There's no address to enter — it simply moves your private balance back into your public balance. This is you cashing out of privacy, not sending to someone else. (To send to someone else, use a Private Transfer instead.)

### Unshielding SOL

If you unshield SOL, the app automatically unwraps it back into native SOL in your wallet, so it's immediately usable — no extra step on your part.
